Which is the Greatest Commandment?

Matthew 22:36-40
Master, which is the great commandment in the law?
Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.
I recently heard from a internet radio preacher that people who try to keep the ten commandments seem to fall more. I think that I would have to agree with this. In the past, I attended some churches that seemed somewhat legalistic. It seems that these people and maybe myself included at the time, were trying too hard. It was like they were depending on their own power.
If we follow the Lord with all our hearts the rest will follow. I speak from experience. I was religious and backslidden at the same time. Then I was just backslidden. I didn't turn my back completely from God but I stopped seeking him. Thankfully, God is such a forgiving God.

Jesus said in John 14:15, "If you love me, keep my commandments." Because Jesus is God, His commandments are the same as God's commandments.
He also spoke in John 12:50, "And I know that his commandment is life everlasting; whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak."
How can one follow Jesus without keeping The 10 commandments?
Dear sister sky: Thank you for this hub it is short and sweet.
I cannot understand your opening statement though about the radio preacher. How can keeping God's Ten Commandments fall?
The Commandments are simply common sense Laws of God, adopted as Laws of Man. I could understand breaking one will cause someone to fall, but keeping them, uh uh, nope that's not possible.
Sky321, amen sis.
Now we are in New Law of the Spirit, new man - born again. God now see us pure and clean seen us looking through Jesus. Man who walk in Spirit, which is the Word of God does not enjoy sin, it is too expensive. Result is bitter curse.

I believe that being away from the Lord is very expensive condition. I thank you, sis, for beautiful Hub. I am now thinking a lot about grace vs Law. If we have New Law, Law of the spirit written on the walls of heart we are greatly blessed.
